Re: talking to you
Sun, February 27, 2005 - 1:43 PMOK... here's something:
I live in Pt. Richmond, we pick up KALX great here. I used to live in Marin, and had to get it on cable over there. Of course when I was a young'un we had to rig elaborate antenae to pick up KALX at all, before the big signal boost oh so many years ago. When I'm in Portland, I listen to KBOO, which is also 90.7... something reassuring about that. Heh.
KALX is a hellova resource for those of us who can't stand commercial radio, it's so easy to foget how lucky we are until you end up in like, Wyoming... and begin to understand how group-think can develop when no one can listen to anything but commercial radio. But now, we have the Internet, and KALX is on it, so it rocks ;) -

Re: talking to you
Tue, March 15, 2005 - 4:23 PMFrom the KALX listserv:
"The BBC streams their audio content over the internet with realaudio, and they had Real create a version of realplayer without the billion ads the US version has.
you can get it here:
www.bbc.co.uk/webwise/cat...l/real.shtml
[Me: I'm using the BBC one now and it works great. I haven't tried the following yet but I may install it at home...]
If you're running Windows, you can use "Real Alternative" to
play realaudio stuff:
