FROM THE BARRIO TO THE BALKANS:
SEATTLE’S KULTUR SHOCK AND SAN FRANCISCO’S LA PLEBE MIX IT UP FOR A SPECTACULAR CLASH OF CULTURE AND SOUND!!

WEDNESDAY, MAY 24
SF’S BOTTOM OF THE HILL

After turning heads and blowing minds during last month's two night stint at Slim’s with Gogol Bordello, this show marks Kultur Shock triumphant return to San Francisco to play their particular brand of aggressive Balkan music at The Bottom of the Hill. Consisting of members from Bosnia, Bulgaria and Japan(!), they have been described by UK Metal Hammer Magazine as “the very model of a m!ulti-cultural punk rock band, just your everyday American-Japanese Spanglish Balkan Mariachi punk rock band.” The fact is, they’re all that, but louder.

Kultur Shock was formed in 1998 by Gino Yevdjevich, a Sarajevo refugee who emigrated to Seattle one year earlier. They released their first album "Live in Amerika" in 1999, and via SF's Jello Biafra, was introduced to Faith No More's Billy Gould, who then produced their two subsequent albums "FUCC the INS" (2001) and "Kultura Diktatura" (2004) and released them on his SF based indie label Koolarrow Records. This is their last scheduled appearance before the release of their upcoming album "We Have Come To Take Your Jobs Away", due for release September 2006.

Co-headlining this event will be local favorites "La Plebe", the Mission District's hardest working, beer guzzling "barrio street punk with horns outfit". With three cds under their belt (“Conquista 21”, “Exploited People”, and “Entre Cerveza, Ritmo y Emocion”) they have made a name for themselves as a pure-hearted punk band who’s well known for their legendary shows, relentless West Coast touring (including full 3 tours of Mexico) , and invaluable contribution to the local music community. This will be their last SF show before they embark on their 2006 "Sin Fronteras" Tour (trans: "Without Borders") of the Balkans (Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Albania and points in between). In fact, May 24 marks the kickoff for the tour, which officially begins the following morning.

Opening the show will be Fuga, formed in 2000 in El Paso, Texas and have since relocated to the SF Bay Area. Thier dedication to social and political issues permeates throughout their lyrics expressing a sense of hope.creating passionate uplifting music for the growing bilingual population.

IT DOESN’T GET MUCH BETTER THAN THIS…AND IT’S ALL AGES!!
